Top N.Korean military official dies

General Kim Kyok Sik was in charge of IV Corps that shelled Yeongpyong Island in 2010

Top North Korean military official Kim Kyok Sik died during the weekend, according to an obituary published today in the DPRK's state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper.

Kim’s last major post was Minister of the People’s Armed Forces, but he was in command of the IV Corps when they bombarded South Korea’s Yeongpyeong island in 2010. South Korean authorities also believed Kim was linked to the sinking of the ROK's Cheonan naval vessel in the same year.
