N. Korea cracks down on counterfeit products in market: Report

Report says authorities are levying taxes on wholesalers, expert argues otherwise

North Korea has started to crack down on counterfeit goods in its unofficial markets, Radio Free Asia reported on Thursday.

"[The authorities] are now extensively cracking down on fake products in the market," a source from Chagang Province was quoted as saying. "The crackdown is focused on food products for now but they have announced they will do so on consumer products."
