North Korea on Saturday revealed new images showing a new class of naval vessel taking part in the test launch of an anti-ship missile via the state-run Korean Central News Agency.
The new class of naval vessel is a surface effect ship with a catamaran hull design and – depending on the sub-class –stealth characteristics functioning as missile-carrying fast attack patrol craft. The current version is at least the third in a series of prototype vessels, the first of which appeared around 2002, and was designated the Nongo (Korean for “sea bass” or “perch”) -class by the United States Department of Defense.
