North Korea recently seized the crew of a Chinese fishing boat, demanding a fine before releasing them, Chinese media reported.
The Beijing News reported the incident Tuesday, stating that the boat came from Dalian, a seaport city from Liaoning Province and had been fishing in the Yellow Sea. The boat, with a crew of six on board was seized on September 12. The owner of the boat was informed two days later via phone call that the vessel had been seized, and the North demanded that a fine of 250,000 yuan (almost $41,000).
