North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles from its east coast Saturday morning, South Korea’s defense ministry revealed, just days ahead of the Chuseok holiday observed in both Koreas.
The North Korean military fired three missiles into the East Sea (Sea of Japan) from a site near the city of Wonsan, Kangwon Province, between 7 and 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. The missiles reached a range of about 210 kilometers (130 miles) and were likely the new, range-improved version of the North’s KN-02 surface-to-surface ballistic missile.
