N. Korean leadership highlighting flood damage prevention

Media coverage, official statements precede start of rainy season typically coming in summer

North Korea’s flood damage prevention effort “has been pushed to all parts of the DPRK” following Cabinet Prime Minister Park Bong Ju’s conference meeting Monday, the state-run Korea Central News Agency reported.

At the conference meeting, Park had highlighted carrying out flood damage prevention programs before the anticipated regular rainy season, or jangma. The KCNA wrote that large-scale construction projects like the inclusion of power stations on the Chongchon River are taking place.
