Re-defectors blame poor living conditions for their return

After short stay in the South, former refugees claim warm welcome in N. Korea

Two defectors who returned to North Korea on Monday blamed a low standard of living and “deception” for their departure from the South.

Pak Jin Gun, 49, and Jang Kwang Chol, 33, appeared at a roundtable discussion in Pyongyang, where they offered explanations for their departures and subsequent returns to the North. An account of their experiences then appeared in the North’s Korean Central News Agency.
