South Korean weightlifters depart for tournament in Pyongyang

South Koreans could see flag raised and national anthem played in event of competition success

A South Korean weightlifting team left Seoul on Tuesday for Pyongyang, to take part in a regional sporting competition that could see the Republic of Korea flag raised and national anthem played in North Korea for the first time ever.

The team, currently on their way to Pyongyang via a connecting flight in Beijing, could see the South Korean flag raised in Pyongyang should they win a medal at the event and national anthem played if one of their athletes wins a gold medal.
