Kim Jong Un inspects frontline DMZ unit, metres from South

Kim visits observation post overlooking South Korea in first border visit since tensions relaxed

SEOUL – Kim Jong Un made a high-profile visit to a frontline Korean People's Army (KPA) unit this weekend, photos of which dominated the front cover of the state newspaper the Rodong and Monday evening's 5pm news bulletin.

KPA Unit 507 sits just kilometers from the nearest South Korean border post, and is based along the Osong Ridge, close to the North Korean border town of Pyong’gang. Kim's visit follows a long line of almost exclusively military-focused inspections.
