Barack Obama to replace U.S. Forces Korea chief

General J.D. Thurman to be replaced by former Deputy Commander of U.S. Forces Afghanistan

WASHINGTON D.C. – Barack Obama is to nominate a new U.S. Forces Korea commander, Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel announced in a Friday afternoon news briefing with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Martin Dempsey.

“General Curt Scaparrotti is going to be nominated by the president to replace General J.D. Thurman in Korea” said Secretary Hagel at the beginning of the Friday briefing.
