Toy model of North Korea’s biggest missile on sale for tourists in Pyongyang

Photo shows large Hwasong-17 ICBM toy and model of military spy satellite on shelves at new souvenir counter

A huge toy model of North Korea’s largest intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) appears to be available to purchase at a store for foreign visitors in Pyongyang, in what one expert called a “reminder for tourists” that the weapons are a point of pride for the country.

Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexander Matsegora posted a photo of the large model of a Hwasong-17 ICBM with its transporter erector launcher on Facebook on Sunday. The image also appeared to show a smaller version of the Hwasong-17 alongside North Korea’s military spy satellite, Malligyong-1, and other more traditional souvenirs.
